New Team Member: Teodora Constantinescu

Teodora Iulia Constantinescu is an urban designer-architect. She graduated in 2010 from the Polytechnic University of Timisoara, Romania, with a degree in Architecture. Following her interest in urbanism, Teodora enrolled in the Master of Science in Urbanism and Strategic Planning offered by the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven which she concluded in 2012.

In 2011 she took part in the exchange program: European Postrgraduate Master in Urbanism in Venice, Italy where she worked under the close guidance of Paola Vigano and Bernardo Secchi, with whom she continued colaborating for her final thesis on the North train station of Brussels: Urban Forms of Social Inequality. Teodora participated in projects and workshops in Leuven, Vietnam, Venice, Rome, Timisoara and Kyiv, worked in international environments with multidisciplinary teams, acquiring a general perspective on urban transformations.

After completing her studies, she worked with Alive Architecture – Brussels based practice, on generating social proccesses by challenging the role of the architect in urban development. Consequently she took part in the team of MOPurbandesign, an office specialized in strategic and infrastructural projects. Her project experience includes the Master Plan for the Citadel of Diest and the Master Plan for Wildervelt, Sint-Pieters-Leeuw, Belgium. Additionally, Teodora is collaborating with Iceberg studio on applied research on urban development in the post socialist context.

Her work and writings have appeard in OUR COMMON RISK, Scenarios for the diffuse city, ed. E. Giannotti and P. Vigano, et al., March 2012 and in RECYCLING CITY, Life cycles, Embodied Energy, Inclusion, ed. L. Fabian, E. Giannotti and P. Vigano, et al., December 2012.

Starting November 2014, she is a PhD researcher within the European project ‘Play!UC – Playing with Urban Complexity’ at The Faculty of Architecture and Arts, research group ArcK of Hasselt University.
